EXPOSURE LIGHTS TWENTYFOUR12 July 23rd to 26th 2020
4 DAY OFF ROAD CYCLING FESTIVAL
EVENT INFORMATION
So which race do you choose? – Well ask a few questions of yourself first
Have you raced your Mountain Bike off road before? Do you have people who will be able to keep you and your bike moving? Do you have high quality lights with a long ‘burn time’ (how long they will last before needed recharging). Can you perform well with little or no sleep? What preparation will you do? Will it freak you out being alone in the dark woods at night…

Solo
Yes that’s right just you and your bike doing as many laps as you can in the time allowed. There are two solo categories under 40 and over 40. Please note minimum age to enter the 12hr race is 16yrs
Pairs
2 of you means someone to hand over when you’re tired, wet, injured or you just fancy a brew, men, women and mixed pair categories available.
Teams of 4
4 of you spread the load, which means strategy and planning or just arriving at transition to find noone there and shouting very loudly until your cries are heard. Also means that not everyone needs amazing lights with plenty of opportunity to recharge both yours and the lights battery.
Riding the 12 hour event means you get to finish at midnight sit round the barbie, crack open some beers and heckle the brave souls who are carrying on for the full 24.
Torchbearer12
This race offers solos only at a crazy time and a lot more darkness to contend with. There will be a separated start area to spread out the Torchbearer riders before joining the main course. The Torchbearer12 starts at Midnight and finishes at Midday on Sunday
- 18 (minimum age) to 39
- 40 to 49
- 50 to 59
- 60+
Available for Male and Female
Medals will be available for top 3 as long as we have 6 or more in the category. Any less then only 1st medal will be presented
Same as 12 hour pairs…except twice as long. In many riders opinion 24 hour pairs is harder than 24 hour solo for deep psychological reasons… try it and you’ll agree. This category also sells out…we have no idea why it is popular…prizes will be awarded for top 3 in each category.
Open Teams (18Yrs +)
We’ve added Fat Bike and Single Speed to the categories for the UK 24hr Solo Mountain Bike Championships.
Battle against other Fat Bike / Single Speed riders for the right to call yourself UK champion. Start time will be the 11am, the same as for the main event. Male and Female categories are available. Medals will be given to the top 3 in each category as long as we have 6 or more entrants in the category. If less enter then we’ll present 1st only.
Fat Bike Rules:
– 3.8″ Tyres and above only fitted to 26″ or 27.5″ size wheels only
– Only laps up to the 8pm cut off will count
– No E-Fatties
Single Speed Rules:
– No Gears
Please be prepared for scrutinising before the start of the event.
Skills (Friday 24th) N Thrills (25th July)
We’ve had a bit of a shake up with the kids events for 2020.
The 3 stage event has gone and in it’s place we’ve got Skills N Thrills.
Friday July 24th Skills – Qualified coaches will take 2 groups (Group 1 u8’s / U10’s / Group 2 U12’s / U16’s) for an hours skills training. Focussing on building skills through playing, the coaches will put the riders through their paces with an aim of improving their skills ready for Saturdays XC race.
Saturday July 25th Thrills – With their new improved skills the kids will race in their age categories over a XC course which runs in and around the arena / campsite. The U8’s / U10’s will race for 12minutes and the U12’s / U16’s for 24 minutes. The U12’s / U16’s will race over a slightly longer, more technical course
Wolverines – U16’s
Sabres – U12’s
Storms – U10’s
Rogues – U8’s
The kids can enter either the coaching and race or just the race.
Places are limited for the coaching. We can’t guarantee places will be available on the day
Friday 24th July
Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult.
10km Exposure Lights Evening Trail Run – Thursday 25th 8.30pm
This run is different to other runs in that you’ll need your lights!! Yes this is an evening run starting at dusk and finishing in the dark!!
Newnham has got so much to offer for a trail running lover. It’s got lots of hills (up and down), hard stone tracks, muddy single track sections, water holes… the course we put together includes bits of everything whilst also taking runners off the beaten track.
Don’t expect any walls to climb over or barbed wire to go under. No boring grass farmers fields…. This is a “Trail Run” we use one of the best and most beautiful areas in the country filled with fantastic natural trails that make the area such a destination site.
Open to any rider aged 16 and above, The Hot Lap is a mass start 1 lap MTB XC blast of the race course around Newnham Park. Who blast the hills and rip the singletracks and hammer the downhills. Starting at 7pm in the main arena, this is a chance for young and old to do battle and gain bragging rights ahead of the main 24/12 event.
Category for male or female. Prizes for the first 3 in each.
